Phase two’ of Monte Gordo’s beach revamp launched

Demolitions are underway at Monte Gordo beach where old structures and restaurants are being torn down to make way for new modern ones. The initiative marks the start of the second phase of the beach’s revamp project.

The plan is to have the demolitions – which are being paid for by the council – completed by the end of the year, so that the 18 new structures can be built by the end of May 2018.

In other words, so that the beach can be fully functional and “open for business” by the start of next year’s bathing season.

The new structures will be “at the same level” as the boardwalk that was inaugurated in July and will have “a standardised architecture”.

The whole project is expected to cost around €10 million.
